The Nora Roberts Writing Institute Brand Launch: 2013-2014
Named after international bestselling novelist and local resident Nora Roberts, the Nora Roberts Writing Institute (NRWI) at Hagerstown Community College was a weekend writing retreat that was held in Hagerstown, Maryland, from 2013-2015. The institute featured breakout sessions taught by bestselling authors, college faculty, and other professionals. Each summer, the institute attracted more than a hundred aspiring writers of every genre from across the nation.
During my time as Social Media and Public Information Specialist at Hagerstown Community College (2008-2015), I coordinated the marketing efforts for the institute, which included the creation and distribution of all print and digital promotional materials, as well as the management of the institute website and social media channels on Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr. I also served on the advisory committee and presented breakout sessions at the 2014 and 2015 conferences.
Although the conference is no longer held, I very much enjoyed the role I played in helping to launch this brand. You can learn more about how we used social media to raise national awareness about the writing institute by viewing the presentation Promoting CE Through Social Media: The Nora Roberts Writing Institute.
